Notes

This is the Hokuhoku Line, the sole line operated by Hokuetsu Express. This line has a huge amount of interesting things to talk about, one of them being that some of its express trains could reach up to 160km/h, tied for the fastest speed of all non-shinkansen trains in Japan. Second that, it was actually a relatively popular line. This is because the shortest path from the Kantō region to this region was to take the Jōetsu Shinkansen all the way to Echigo-Yuzawa and to them take the Hakutaka express in this line. All express trains were retired when the Hokuriku Shinkansen line opened in 2015, providing a shorter and faster route to the region.

In this game, the line stops at Muikamachi, however this is not the case in real-life as demonstrated by later games in the series such as Densha de GO! Professional, which has trains going all the way to Echigo-Yuzawa instead, a segment which uses tracks from the Jōetsu Line. Also in that game are the local trains (which are also HK100), which stop at nearly all stations on the line, unlike here where all of them are either rapid or express.

The rail segment between Naoetsu and Saigata belong to the Shin'etsu Main Line, which continues ownwards and backwards. Almost the entire rest of the track uses a single rail, which means that sometimes trains have to stop at certain segments to let other trains pass by. Most of the scenery in here are farms, trees or mountains. There's also a high amount of tunnels as well. Although this is the first line, it expects

This line (along with the other lines) has a Wikipedia page, which has more details about the line if you're interested.
